I think Palin just lost any chance of getting birther support. Not sure why Anonymous at 5:40pm says it's not her fight. I thought Palin was American, and I think this is an American issue. Actually, Palin should have a higher stake in this issue if she wants to be POTUS. Obama has tarnished the position. The only way to remove the tarnish is to remove him.
On the one hand, I can agree with Anonymous at 5:40pm. For Palin to support investigating the eligibility issue would be the death knell for her career plans, whatever they may be. As it is today, for a politician to support this issue is to commit career suicide. Only by speaking up on the issue en masse will that change.
I add that her support would only hurt the "birther" movement (for lack of a better term). It would give the lamestream media more of their brand of "proof" that "birthers" are crazy and stupid, just as they insist Palin is crazy and stupid. The taint would rub off on us.
On the other hand, I wish Palin hadn't said "It's distracting. It gets annoying. Let's stick with what really matters." If she was just trying to avoid the topic, which would have rendered the rest of the press conference mute as nothing else would have been reported on had she reiterated what she said last year, which is that the issue is worth discussion, she could have come up with better words to say to change the topic.

This is obviously a political decision and she has greatly miscalculated that the Constitution and the country comes first and foremost. There are more of us "Birthers" than perhaps she realizes. I wrote a lengthy article last October(Patriot or Politician?) and challenged her to speak out at least on behalf of LTC Lakin. She chose to say silent. I challenged her to quit her job with FOX and step up and be a voice for freedom and truth. She stayed silent. That's her prerogative. BUT...to take the position she has now taken and call the eligibility a distraction, I am sorry Sarah that is an insult to millions of patriots who would have supported you. A candidate would have to stake their entire career, credibility and election chances on a result they would be completely unsure of. Birthers don't even agree on his birthplace. Kenya, Hawaii, and Canada are just a few of the locations factions of birthers claim he was born. People disagree over who has the power to remove him or what the process would be. People disagree over who would succeed him.
Not only that - you would also have to correctly anticipate what the SCOTUS decision Re: NBC/eligibility would be if it were proven he was born in Hawaii.
Even if you somehow answer all the questions correctly the media is going to call you a nutter until the issue is resolved - and that probably won't happen until after the election. If it gets put off until after the election, you will lose.
If you somehow you manage to force the issue into the spotlight and get the media to pressure Obama into releasing his info and some authority actually removes him from office the media will call her a racist. They will blame her for any riots that ensue.
She is already the most hated figure on the right - but you want her to expose their messiah as an usurper that will probably lead to him being thrown in jail.

I understand people are frustrated that nobody is willing to look at the issue seriously. The media constantly misrepresents the facts and openly states things that are not true. The SCOTUS ducks the issue, the military courts do too.

If you are looking for a POTUS nominee that is going to tout the birther issue you are probably going to be voting for Alan Keyes.
If you can't step back and look at the big picture and acknowledge much of what I have posted I don't think you are looking at the issue fairly. Not saying you have to agree - just acknowledge that Palin might be one person who could be forgiven for taking a pass here.

I respectfully disagree. This is not a left/right/black/white issue. There are actually more Republicans refusing to answer than Democrats, because they are the ones being asked. The Democrats are given a pass by the MSM.
It is a 2 prong issue:
First, a Constitutional requirement must be upheld no matter which side of the isle. Remember you have an enormous Independent Tea Party that call themselves Patriots, but as an organization will not call the PTB out on the eligibility issue either. You're either with us or against us. It really is that simple. You have to follow the TRUTH wherever it leads, regardless of the consequences.
Secondly, redress by the citizens has been subverted by the Rules of Criminal Procedure:
"In 1946, the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure were adopted, codifying what had previously been a vastly divergent set of common law procedural rules and regional customs. In general, an effort was made to conform the rules to the contemporary state of federal criminal practice. In the area of federal grand jury practice, however, a remarkable exception was allowed. The drafters of Rules 6 and 7, which loosely govern federal grand juries, denied future generations of what had been the well-recognized powers of common law grand juries: powers of unrestrained investigation and of independent declaration of findings. Therefore until the Federal Grand Jury is re-established to its rightful place and recognized as the enforceable Fourth Branch of Government, violations and usurpations to the Constitution will continue, guaranteed.

Look, just because the guy is destroying the economy and running the country into the ground, we should give him more time to learn the job. This is a no-brainer issue and it has significant National Security implications. If you want to lead the country and can't succeed in:
a) comprehensively understanding it
b) recognizing how dangerous it is for the MSM to be complicit in the crimes
c) state publicly for the record (once) your position in a way that the media has to disprove you or they are no allowed to address you about it again
d) if your convictions are to always stand by the TRUTH, you always win.
She's getting bad advice from someone or a group of strategists that consider themselves "architects" who think they know better than everyone else such as Rove.

She's merely a civilian, or a private citizen now. She's not been a politician nor a public servant for almost two years now. Further, she's not thrown her hat into the ring for 2012 nor expressed intent to do so. In fact, the last time she was asked about it in an interview, she said that if the GOP couldn't find anyone else who they thought stood a better chance of defeating Barky in 2012, she'd do it. She said that knowing that the GOP doesn't want to run her in 2012. Their mouthpieces, such as Rove, Gingrich and Krauthammer, among others, put her down constantly or, at least, repeat endlessly how she doesn't have a chance to win in 2012, that she'd only secure a loss for the GOP. They say that to turn the public against her because, instead, the GOP wants to run RINOs Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich or Mike Huckabee, and I haven't heard anything from them about the eligibility issue except Alinsky-like criticism and ridicule of birthers.
So, as is the case with the TEA Partiers, the crowd here has turned on Palin, a private citizen, because she won't adopt this cause. Nevermind that she's not in a position of power and there's nothing more she can do to win it than you can. Also as it is with the TEA Partiers, all of her hard work and her small victories won for America and Americans are worthless to you because she won't champion the big one. It's like spitting on the athlete who returns from the Olympic games with a bronze or silver medal, even though the winner of the gold was unbeatable because the judges cheated for him/her. S/he should have accomplished the impossible because anything less than the big win is unacceptable.

The TEA PARTY never acknowledged the eligibility issue. I didn’t say the BC issue. The TEA PARTY as an organization probably never figured out the difference between native citizen and natural born Citizen which precluded dual allegiances for just two jobs in this country for National Security reasons. The TEA PARTY has the numbers. If they had organized a protracted protest instead of a weekend rally, our representatives would have had no choice but to resolve the issue.
I disagree with you’re assertion that Palin is not in a position of power. Just because Oprah is not an elected official, are you going to say she is not in a position of power? Don’t underestimate the power that Oprah had in helping Obama get elected.
Palin has the financial resources and enough support to find a venue and organize a public debate for pay-per-view for ALL of the plaintiffs that have had their cases dismissed. The MSM doesn’t want an open and honest debate. Palin or anyone with the resources could be providing an immeasurable public service and subsequently the world would know the TRUTH. In your analogy she would champion the day and come home with the gold.
The problem with WND’s billboard campaign is it is a message that is too simplistic and one sided. If those resources were used for a public debate so that the purveyors of deceit could be refuted with the TRUTH in real-time, the American public is smart enough to figure it out. The country is slowly waking up.

Your assertion that the segment of the American citizens that choose to publicly criticize someone for picking and choosing which laws to uphold and which to ignore is not synonymous with spitting on them. We are just stating facts. As for me and my house, the Constitution is the law of the land and should be upheld in its entirety.

Just like to say I completly disagree with the above quote. Palin has far more ability to take on Obama's eligibility than I do, and, if she isn't going to run in 2012 as many say, she has nothing to lose.
I refuse to believe she doesn't know Obama is ineligible, and she could become an American hero for all time for speaking out forcefully on the issue, and publically asking the many questions that no one in Congress or big media, including and especially Fox news, will ask.
If she would take on this issue her place in history would above be anything else she will ever accomplish....but she does not have the courage to do so.

You got that right, I stopped watching Fox news because they refuse to ever give Barry's eligibility a "fair and balanced" discussion with someone knowledgeable of the Constitution and Barry's fake past in general.

I don't know how much money Palin has. For that matter, I don't know how much money you think Palin has, but I'll bet it's more than she's actually got. And even if she could and did come up with the "financial resources and enough support to find a venue and organize a public debate for pay-per-view for ALL of the plaintiffs that have had their cases dismissed" (what would be debated? they're all on the same side), who would pay to view it? The rest of us who are also on the same side? And in the end, it would change everything, just like Cao's public outburst changed nothing and Rev Manning's Columbia trial changed nothing.
Besides, who's to say that you couldn't pull together the resources and the financial backing to do what you think Palin should do?
What I see here are a bunch of people who dismiss anyone who won't destroy their careers and livelihoods and/or go to jail for this cause. You do it first. You destroy your careers, your livelihoods, and land yourself in jail over it. Until then, expecting everyone else to do it for you makes you nothing but cowards.
I have shouted about this to the rooftops, wrote hundreds of letters, sent faxes, made phone calls, tried to talk to anyone who would listen and to some who wouldn't. I have posted everwhere I can find, and I am working on a face to face meeting on eligibility with my Senator.
As a 67 year old retired person on a, (low), fixed income, to ask the question of me, "What can Palin do that I can't?, is pretty darn silly.
Defend her if you want, I think she has jumped the shark.

I'm waiting for a true leader to emerge. Once we are a cohesive group with a leader and the numbers to back him/her, I suspect we will follow. If that doesn't happen then we should all march on Washington. And if that doesn't happen, then maybe we are all just lazy cowards.
I have said this before and will say it again...She is being groomed by the elite banksters who give to the GOP as the next one.
