Louisiana Joins The Growing List Of States Seeking Proof Of Eligibility Legislation

As reported here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here and here; Montana, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Indiana, Connecticut, Missouri and Iowa are pursuing legislation that will require presidential and vice-presidential candidates prove they're Constitutionally Eligible. Now Louisiana jumps on the birther bandwagon... HB561 can be found here.

Via Washington Examiner: Lawmakers file controversial 'birther' bill in La.

Two Republican state lawmakers are seeking to pass a law to require President Barack Obama and other presidential candidates to prove their U.S. citizenship before their names can be included on Louisiana ballots.

The so-called "birther" proposal, filed Friday for consideration in the upcoming regular session, is similar to a bill that has gained final passage in Arizona.

Sponsors of Louisiana's bill are Rep. Alan Seabaugh, of Shreveport, and Sen. A.G. Crowe, of Slidell. The measure would require an original or certified copy of a birth certificate and additional proof of citizenship for anyone running in Louisiana for president, vice president or Congress. -snip- -Source.

I don't blame Louisiana for doing this after the way Obama treated them after the oilspill and him shutting down drilling off their coast.

Arizona's "Barry Bill" was discussed for quite some time between Greta van Susteren and some guy on her show tonight, in which she also once again ganged up on the birthers with Karl Rove, who thinks this issue will doom Trump. Fat chance, says the latest poll cited by Sean Hannity on his show, with The Donald surging well ahead of the pack with 26 percent of the picks. Sean rightly remarked that this sends a strong message to the other contenders that they better have the balls to speak out strongly on certain subjects, including the birther issue. Sean also talked a lot about this issue with Trump in the nightcap of the double-header interview. Hannity still hasn't changed his mind on believing that Barry was born in Hawaii, but at least he seemed to respect The Donald's opinions to the contrary.

The disaster has begun. Louisiana 561 contains NO provision for documenting Parental Citizenship. When this debacle is finished, there will be a group of states which will have so called "Birther Bills", that will have eroded the sense of Article II, Section 1. These bills are removing the Natural Born Citizen requirement because they are ONLY requiring proof of Citizenship (NOT proof of NATURAL BORN CITIZENSHIP). It will be difficult if not impossible to reverse this trend once the trend has started. WORSE: The Constitution will have been effectively amended without resorting to the prescribed Article V process for amendment.
THis is far from a good thing. This may have very dire consequences.

@Retired Intelligence Officer
I agree that Barky abandoned Louisiana after the Gulf of Mexico underwater oil gusher blew, but the eligibility for ballot bills (aka "birther bills") are about enforcing the law as per the US Constitution and not about Barky or any other individual. He's only one of many whose name may be prevented from appearing on ballots for elections for POTUS in the future.

It won't matter if all 57 states pass Barry bills. Barry Soetoro might not be on one state ballot, but he will win the election. Any new laws, law suits, investigations, "Turncoat Trumps" who suddenly appear and disappear, etc., etc,. etc., will be for naught. You have to first understand what it is we're up against. This is bigger then 1812 and 1776. Once that is agreed upon, we'll go from there.

RE:"It won't matter if all 57 states pass Barry bills." But it will matter because if they (the other "56 States")copy Arizona's "Flawed Legislation" they will have done grave, probably irreparable damage to our Constitution. If this goes into effect without kicking and screaming from the "Birther Nation" -
I'm beginning to think you may be right.
