Your crack research is flawed. To obtain years of attendance is a different database. You have the year he was awarded his degree, which is available to anyone and has been previously presented.
You can't get the information from the other database without permission that it be released.
Columbia has stated on more than one occasion his time there.

So I'm looking at the picture of Barry and his "friend" and it strikes me that I never sit that close to any of my male friends when there is room on the couch. Earning a BA from Columbia with only three years of accumulated studies would be highly unlikely, especially for someone who, as I understand it, admitted being a mediocre student while attending Occidental. Any chance he enrolled in the summer session at either school, thus accumulating needed credit hours for a fast-track degree program?

In the late 1970s I was active in the anti-nuke movement. A group known as the Clamshell Alliance spearheaded the organized, nonviolent protest of the building of a seaside nuclear power plant in the resort town of Seabrook, New Hampshire. Prior to the planned "occupation" of the proposed site, anti-nuke groups from all over the country held meetings where details of the occupation (much like the birther summit)and instruction in acceptable civil disobedience were discussed. Distinctive armbands were handed out by group leaders to those who faithfully attended the meetings, and anyone who did not attend or who behaved suspiciously was denied one. This made it easier to distinguish true friends of the movement from questionable ones. As the largest anti-nuke demonstration in U.S. history, many thousands descended on the building site with the great majority, as I recall, donning an armband. Though there was more to it than this, the point I'm trying to make is that it was possible back then to take steps to limit the number of saboteurs bent on making the cause look bad. I wish we birthers now could do the same.

I don't know that complete records always show up in requests of this type, for whatever reason. As noted, Columbia has officially stated that Obama was there in 1981. You could always go to them directly and ask why the discrepancy.

Not everyone in America comes from a white-only family, in a white-only neighborhood, in a white-only city, etc. Those of us exposed realize there is more than one culture in America, and not everyone is the do-not-touch-and-stand-4-6-feet-away-from-me type. Meaning, other cultures do things like hug, kiss, and have close affection without being "gay". America is one of a few countries that is described as "cold" when others visit, referring to how Americans are not an inviting people.
If you are that insecure with being so close to someone you are not attracted to... you need to ask yourself why are you insecure? You're own sexuality perhaps?
And record keeping from 1980... is anyone seriously expecting perfect records? My last name is of unique Hungarian origin. I am the only one in the world with my name. And yet, while in the army from 2001 to 2006, I had my records lost various times. Anyone serving any branch of the military knows EXACTLY what I mean when describing how poor records are kept. And it is a computerized system by now. You give your last 4 of you social security number to get food from the DFAC, and depending on how the place was run, if you didn't pop up on the computerized register, you didn't exist.
Conspiracy theories are fun and all for movie mysteries and books, but in real life, they do not work. A little common sense and anyone can see why. They require vast amounts of people to all stay quiet. No one keeps a secret. No one. If Obama had a fake birth certificate, think of how many agencies, people, and years, are all covering up for him. Is that realistic? Seems a bit like a schizoid mentality.
Thinking critically requires knowing both sides of an argument to be informed. If one follows both sides and still comes up with the same conclusions, then fine. But if one is afraid to look up information counter to their own beliefs, that is just proof that person is biased to begin with and doesn't want to find truth. They just want to be right at all costs.
My birth certificate has been lost since 1988 when my family moved. The county couldn't find one and one was recreated. I only had a social security number and my white skin as proof.

Had it come down to it, I would have had photos of my family holding the baby me in the hospital, with nurses in the pictures, and how I grew up over months showing my recognizable features all the way to my adult years. But if I was a minority and someone found out my birth certificate was "recreated" and I had my family release photos to prove my existence, I wonder how many would simply declare the photos fakes or of another kid..... or some other far-fetched excuse.

Too bad the National Student Clearinghouse document is not admissible in a court of law. Only a certified document from Columbia University counts as evidence.

Wow, people have some faulty gaydar! That pic at the top screams awkward personal space not, homosexual love affair! An easy body language tell thew way their heads are arched away from each other shows they want more personal space. Obama is taking the dominant role in this picture claiming most of the space, the other guy is cowering in the corner of the couch. Plus the cultural differences in personal boundaries may play a part here. Showing his boot to the other guy not his thigh(left leg up not the right) is another signal that they aren't comfortable and definitely not attracted to each other! Lastly it was the 80's and before the whole "gay" scare hit the common people. Back in the day men weren't afraid to get close to each other. It's not like you catch "gay" from being too close to other straight men for too long, if that were true then all football players(gayest sport of all time!) and wrestlers would be homosexual.
