A runner magazine pushed him on the issue and he walked it back himself when he claims his brother, who has the best marathon running time in his family, told Ryan that he had never run a "sub-three hour" marathon.
So the source that people are reporting on is Ryan himself who has not provided any information on what his running times actually ever were. He has just stated that the less than three hour run was not accurate, and blamed his confusion on the run times occuring over twenty years ago and "back issues."

In a perfect world, we would seriously invest our dollars in education and support our children's education at home, too. But, partisans only support causes that their corrupt partisan heros tell them to support.

OK, now we're getting somewhere. The telegraph article was excellent. Basically it says that the idea that a government can re-distribute the wealth created by the "winners" is a failed meme.
I would point out one thing. In a system where the govt FAILS to redistribute wealth, the gap between the rich and poor exacerbates tensions to the point where civil war is inevitable. This is how just about all civilizations crumble--the decadence of the "winners" and the discontent of the "losers".
Redistributing wealth leads to the discontent of the winners. But the "winners" are never wont to start civil wars, because even if Taxed Enough Already, they are still going to be rich. Rich people don't like to fight. They like to pay OTHER people (usually the "losers") to fight their battles.
The TEA Party people who call for "revolution" aren't really willing to put their fortunes on the line for it.

I will agree that a system that breeds losers better recognize that those losers are just as important and critical to the economy as the winners. You can't have one without the other.
That's why I am such an advocate for education -- it should be free all the way through grad school, IMO. I don't know anyone would want a bunch of angry, uneducated losers who are prone to crime running around.
We are probably fairly close in our opinions on capitalism, social welfare, and trickle down economics.
However, we are miles apart on our opinion of Obama. He exploits the poor and has no desire to see an educated populace...that's why his role in the Annenberg Challenge was such a miserable failure. Obama wants the people to nice and dumb.

You're kidding, right? Anyone who struggles thru an Ivy League education and pays back HUNDREDS of thousands of dollars in student loans has some appreciation for education. In fact, if you listen to Obama's speeches he's ALWAYS ranting about the value of "that special teacher". IMO, he puts WAY too much emphasis on the value of a college education. IMO, in a real service economy, there is a real opportunity for real Americans to make REAL dollah.
For instance, one of my neighbors is a high school graduate. He works for himself. He's black. He makes $200-300 grand a year. I've NEVER seen him without a wad of hundred dollar bills an inch thick.
What does he do?
He remodels homes interiors. Tile flooring. Wood flooring. Bathrooms. Crown moldings. Kitchens.
He's SELF TAUGHT. He learned how to do all this stuff because he's cheap. He remodeled his own house. He gets paid in CASH, typically $20K per gig. I've been with him on a gig. He's NEVER at a loss for business, mostly word of mouth.
In a service economy, he makes MORE money than most college graduates. Did I mention he gets paid in CASH, never by check?
My own son is a freshman in college. Recently another of my neighbors paid him $300 TO RAKE HIS YARD. My son makes $60/hour CUTTING LAWNS. And he's the CHEAPEST lawn guy in the neighborhood. And he, too, is never short of cash.
In a service economy, the watchful will discern service opportunities.
